In an emotional Instagram video shared on Friday evening, Janai reflected on her time at GMA and opened up about how difficult it has been for her to say goodbye without the chance for closure.
“I really thought we had more time. It’s been hard for me, being cut short like this. I have loved every minute of this job,” she said.
Janai continued, “It’s been such a joy connecting with my coworkers, with all of you, and being part of your mornings. And honestly, it breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I wish I could have done that.”
The TV star also shared how her departure opens up time for her to spend more moments with her three children.
“I have these three little ones, and I’ve worked weekends their whole lives. Now they get more time with me, and that makes it all worth it,” Janai added, holding back tears as she spoke about the shift in her family dynamic after welcoming her third child in December 2023 with her husband, Eli.
The beloved anchor also thanked her followers for the outpouring of support and promised to stay connected with them. “Thank you all for being so supportive. I’ll be back soon, and I can’t wait to share more.”
Janai, who had been part of the GMA team for four years, was let go after her contract expired. Sources reveal that the decision not to renew her was made by the network, though her replacement has not yet been announced.
