Former The Only Way Is Essex star Jake Hall died from a devastating chest injury caused by broken glass after a horrifying incident inside a rented villa in Majorca, according to investigators.
The 35-year-old reality star reportedly suffered fatal wounds after crashing into a glass door during an early-morning incident at a luxury villa in Santa Margalida, in the north of the Spanish island. Sources close to the investigation said the injury to his chest was believed to be the most severe wound and “most likely to have been fatal.”
Authorities say Jake had been partying with a group of friends throughout the night before returning to the £200-a-night property, where the situation allegedly spiralled out of control.
One source claimed witnesses told investigators that Jake became “agitated” and “turned aggressive,” allegedly attempting to harm himself by banging his head against objects before smashing through the glass door. The insider said police believe shards of broken glass caused the catastrophic injuries that ultimately killed him.
Spanish police have officially confirmed that Jake’s death is currently being treated as accidental. A Civil Guard spokesman stated: “There is nothing pointing to it being the result of a crime at this stage.”
An autopsy was due to take place in Palma, with additional toxicology tests expected to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the tragedy. Investigators are also reportedly examining witness statements from several people who were inside the villa at the time.
Neighbours near the property described hearing loud noises during the night. One local resident told reporters they heard what sounded “like drilling” around 2am and even felt the walls vibrating for several minutes before everything suddenly went quiet.
Just days before his death, Jake had appeared excited about a new chapter in his life and creative career in Spain. Two weeks earlier, his art gallery, Son Buga Studios, proudly shared photos of his first sculpture installed in Mallorca, writing: “Jake’s first sculpture in Mallorca – where all this creative feelings where born.”
The heartbreaking tragedy has left fans stunned, especially after one of Jake’s final interviews resurfaced in which he described his daughter as “the only reason he’s still alive.”
Jake leaves behind his daughter River and her mother, Misse Beqiri, as tributes continue to pour in from friends, fans and former colleagues across the UK entertainment world.
