Chuck Norris’ family have released a heartfelt statement after the action legend died at the age of 86, shortly after he had been hospitalized in Hawaii.

Norris was a martial arts grandmaster and action star. His role in “Walker, Texas Ranger,” alongside other action shows and movies, turned him into an iconic tough guy and later, an Internet icon.

He was born in Oklahoma on March 10, 1940. He served in the U.S. Airforce before becoming involved first in martial arts and then Hollywood.
He is survived by his wife, five children and grandchildren.
