Outlander Season 8 Episode 7 (“Evidence of Things Not Seen”) delivered one of the most devastating moments in the entire series — and the actors behind Fergus and Marsali are finally opening up about it.
In a deeply emotional episode, Fergus (César Domboy) meets a tragic end in a fire at the print shop in Wilmington. What begins as rising tension with Loyalist threats quickly turns into a fiery nightmare that changes the Fraser family forever.
César Domboy & Lauren Lyle’s Honest Reactions:
César Domboy (Fergus) admitted the episode was incredibly difficult to film, saying:
“It felt very real. After ten years playing this character, saying goodbye to Fergus was heavy. We had to go to some very dark places emotionally.”
Lauren Lyle (Marsali), who shares an incredibly close off-screen friendship with César, fought back tears in interviews while discussing Marsali’s grief:
“Marsali has lost the love of her life. Watching César go through that final scene was heartbreaking. We both cried a lot on set. It felt like losing a real part of ourselves.”
The pair reflected on their decade-long journey as “Fersali,” describing how special it was to portray such a passionate, unconventional love story. They both revealed they were “very happy” with how the show handled their characters’ farewell, even though it deviates significantly from the books.
This episode also includes major emotional fallout for the entire Fraser family, with Claire and Jamie learning devastating news and Marsali facing an uncertain future as a widow with young children.

Fans are calling Fergus’s death one of the most shocking and painful moments of Season 8 so far.
