Itâs a big day for residents of Walnut Grove.
Netflix has finally unveiled the first look at its much-anticipated Little House on the Prairie reboot â and thatâs not all. The streamer has confirmed that the fresh telling of Laura Ingalls Wilderâs story will span at least two seasons. Ahead of its debut, Little House has officially been renewed for a second season.
Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Vampire Diaries) celebrated the news in a statement to Tudum, sharing, âIâm incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive. We canât wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and weâre thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.â
As for when fans will finally get to journey back to the American West, Little House is slated to debut this summer, on July 9.

The Little House on the Prairie reboot promises a story thatâs âpart hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American Westâ as it explores the âstruggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontierâ by adapting Ingalls Wilderâs semi-autobiographical books. The celebrated author released eight Little House books in the 1930s and â40s, while a ninth was published posthumously in 1971. More than 73 million copies of the books have been sold to date.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly last year, the original showâs star, Melissa Gilbert, made it clear that she supports Netflixâs new take on the classic books. âI think thereâs room in the Little House universe for all different kinds of stories to be told â just like there was always room in the Little Women universe to keep retelling that story,â she said.
The reboot series stars Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry) as the strong-willed hero at the center of the novels. Skywalker Hughes (I, Object) will play Lauraâs older sister, Mary, while Luke Bracey (Hacksaw Ridge) stars as their father, Charles Ingalls, and Crosby Fitzgerald (Crime 101) plays their mother, Caroline Ingalls.
